Main City Park and Springwater in Gresham

Main City Park

Wikipedia says the City of Gresham bought the 21-acre park in 1969 and developed it in the 1970s. It sits near downtown and gives access to the Springwater Trail. Features listed include a playground, trails, an off-leash dog park, a baseball field, a skatepark, a picnic shelter and horseshoe courts. The City's parks pages are at greshamoregon.gov.

Gresham Japanese Garden at Tsuru Island

The garden's own site describes it as a Japanese garden inside Main City Park, "a place of culture, beauty, tranquility and learning for all who visit," free and open sunrise to sunset. It lists a major renovation for 2025 and 2026. The City describes it as a short walk from downtown. Wikipedia adds that the garden was dedicated in 1975 and that Gresham's sister city is Ebetsu, Japan. See greshamjapanesegarden.org.

Springwater Corridor

Wikipedia describes the Springwater Corridor as an off-street trail of about 21 miles, mostly paved, running from Boring through Gresham to Portland, and part of the 40-Mile Loop system. It follows an old railroad line and a large part follows Johnson Creek. The Gresham segment opened in 1996. Portland Parks & Recreation lists the trail for biking, hiking and horseback riding and says dogs must be leashed. It also posts closure notices, including a weekday closure near Boring planned through about November 2026, so check the Springwater Corridor page before you go.
